Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about therapy, getting started, appointments, and working with Gamble Therapy & Wellness.

You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. You may be dealing with anxiety, relationship difficulties, a major life transition, work or family stress, or simply feeling that something in your life needs to change. Therapy provides a confidential space to slow down, talk honestly, and begin figuring out what you need.

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I’ll ask about what brought you to therapy, what’s happening in your life now, and what you hope might be different as a result of therapy. You don’t need to prepare a perfect explanation or know exactly what your goals are. We’ll work on that together.

My approach is warm, collaborative, practical, and judgment-free. I listen carefully, but I’m also an active participant in the conversation. I may ask questions, help you recognize patterns, challenge you to consider another perspective, and work with you to identify practical steps toward the changes you want to make. Therapy with me is a conversation not an interrogation and not a lecture.

I provide therapy to adults, teens, and couples experiencing a variety of life and relationship challenges. My work may include concerns related to anxiety, stress, relationships, communication, life transitions, career challenges, family issues, and adjusting to significant changes.

Yes. I work with couples who want to improve communication, better understand recurring
conflicts, strengthen their relationship, or work through difficult transitions.

The goal isn’t to decide who is right or wrong. It’s to help both partners understand what’s
happening in the relationship and develop healthier ways of communicating and responding to
one another.

That’s completely okay. Many people come to their first session unsure of where to begin. You don’t need a script. I’ll help guide the conversation, and we’ll take things at a pace that feels comfortable. Sometimes the first step is simply being able to say, “I’m not sure where to start, but I know something needs to change.” That’s enough.

Yes. Protecting your privacy is an important part of the therapeutic relationship. What you discuss in therapy is confidential, subject to certain legal and ethical exceptions that I will explain to you as part of the informed-consent process.

Yes. I provide secure virtual video therapy to clients located in Ohio.  Teletherapy allows you to attend sessions from a private location without having to travel to an office

Individual therapy sessions are generally about 45–60 minutes.

Many clients begin with weekly sessions, although the frequency depends on your needs, goals, schedule, and progress. We can discuss what makes the most sense for you.

There isn’t one answer that fits everyone. Some people come to therapy to work through a specific situation and find that a relatively short period is helpful. Others want to address longer-standing patterns or concerns and choose to continue therapy for a longer period. We’ll periodically talk about your progress so therapy remains purposeful rather than something you feel obligated to continue indefinitely.

Finding the right therapist matters. I want you to feel comfortable talking openly with me and confident that our work is helping you. If either of us determines that another therapist or type of treatment would better meet your
needs, we can discuss that openly.

I work with clients through Headway and Alma, which may allow you to use your insurance benefits depending on your plan and eligibility. Because insurance participation and benefits can change, please use the scheduling/insurance links on this website to confirm your current coverage before scheduling. Private-pay sessions are also available.

You can use the links on this website to learn more about me, review insurance and scheduling options, or request an appointment or consultation. You don’t have to know exactly what you need before reaching out. Starting with a conversation is enough.
